The pier is it or isn’t it
A mate of mine recently told me that shields’ pier had been taken over by a club true or not
Many fond memories on their as a kids although I haven’t fished it for some years including one that springs to mind bearing in mind it was a trip on the bus with the pocket money in those days some bright spark had told us you can freeze rag worm so that we did next weekend gets the bus for an hour then walks right to end of the the pier opens the bait bag yup tomatoe soup eeesh
Digging garden worms for 2 days then fishing the end of the pier with them!
Catching A weaver fish or some thing that no one would unhook
Fishing from the beach in rough weather with a mate with his new set up he goes for a tiddle comes back to discover his full set up taken away by the surf silly boy got visions of Rupert Murdoch using his gear now and did I here right bass coming from thier
Another one as kids was when we were heaving on a river rod with the tackle snagged pretending it was jaws it promptly snapped at the ferrule!
Anyone else got any tales of woe or joy come on lads don’t be shy lets here um

im 26yrs old now started fishing when i was 6 over at hury res for rainbow trout i always remember my first fish was 3.7lbs exact i only knew the weight of it as it was writtin on the back of the photo,
anyway when i was old enough my dad introduced me into sea fishing i started off with the maccy as you would anyone else just as a taster then i finally found my feet in the wild world of cod angling only 8yr ago my uncle started taking me went a full season only catching small whities,
my father had packed in his cod fishing nearly 25yr ago due to ill health but my second season he decided to come out with me one wild night on the middleton his first session in over 25yr and we both came off with a bag ful of cod,
then we started going on to the steetly in hartlepool i remember about 3yr ago was a really cold night a few lads on the pier i said to my old man keep an eye on my rod while i go for a p as you do...next thing i hear was him shouting darren your rod sun i turned round ran to my rod only for my dad to get it first he refused to pass it over so i had to lift the fish for him and it ended up with a fish of 6lb and while all that was goining on i still had everything hanging out :O :O :O everyone on the pier where creased with laughter
