The walkway tonight 01/12/11

Hi lads/ladies, I fished the said venue from 14:00pm ish/low tide up today. I used some cracking fresh rag from Terry's, some king prawn (yes I heard its a cracking bait) and plenty of frozen baits IE mackerel, mussel and crab out my freezer, got nowt left now.

The result was, shock horror 1 good size whiting to a mackerel bait about 15:30pm. 10 rods along the walkway and I only seen 1 whiting pulled in by a bloke when I arrived and 1 that floated past in front of me around 19:00pm, time for home I thought so gave the lads next to me rest of my bait.

Its now 13 months I have been fishing and not 1 cod, the amount of money I could of saved by just using mackerel as bait and "CATCHING WHITING ETC" as opposed to the amount of different cocktail bait bought and "NOT CATCHING" is amazingly shocking.

I myself and the lads I spoke to were expecting alot different to what we got, flooding tide, dark and choppy yet NOWT. OH well bitching over lol better luck next time aye. :red:

plenty ov whiting in the tyne this year much beter than last few yr. would always take differnt offerings with me you just never no whats gonna be top bait on the day . least you didnt blank pal.

Aye its been a funny year bud, some days there's nowt at the walkway, but yeah sometimes depends on the bait used but like I say I have had more success using mackerel than owt else.

all right peter i fished smiths doc last night from 5 till 9pm with me sons had 4 small whiting between us and thats it baits used fresh rag nd lug frozen crab and blacks and maccy mussel
its hit or miss in tyne at moment we fished last fri as well and had codling up to 3lb.
River still full of crab aswell
keep plodding on mate your cod will come

Keep chugging along buddy, you'll get ya codling yet. You want to be on the end of shields pier, firing big crab baits out there, thats how me n me mate mark (pop39) got our codlings, his 3lb 15ozs and mine 4lb 5oz, both caught with big crab baits, either on its own or with a bit mussel.

Well done on ya session though buddy, you caught a fish and didnt blank, so you achieved what many anglers ask for, a session without blanking. Don't worry, ya codling will come yet...

Unlucky Pete. We're out tonight, pier is favourite at the moment, hoping for something decent as I didn't get out last weekend.

Aye unlucky again Pete, i'm in the same boat chasing the illusive codling but av only been goin a couple of weeks. Gaan on the lash for a month when a get one LOL. Keep positive mate it will come.

Cheers lads, I will be out again asap like that cod will be mine, just watch it will be a whopping 12cm.

No lug in when I got to shop, non left but everything else no good, yeah plenty of crabs coming up and my hooks were clean every time I brought em in. A good thing in itself as there's nowt worse IMHO than bringing an untouched bait back in.

We will get our just rewards Budgie mate, they can't elude us forever.
