Decided this morning to have a days fishing and try out the water pump :).
Arrived at the marina at 9.30 after calling in for £5.00 worth of rag, started the engine and switched on the GPS......Nothing..... :( On investigating i found one terminal had corroded off on of the two fuse holders which are mounted on top of the battery box :(, so stripped all the wires off and sorted it with some small bolts, replaced the fuse, turned on and it blew...guess what, i wired it up wrong, through rushing...no spare, left them at home, in the grab bag , off to the motorist shop and got a new one and 5 spares....job done :).

10.45, away out fishing, 2 miles out and thought i'd check the pump make sure it's not leaking.....lifted the engine cover.:o:o:o, water up level with the sump gasket, pumped it out....ran the engine...no leaks....headed back in, just in case :(.

The lad on the next boat to me offered to have a ride out and check for the leak while i drove...Turns out the water over time, runs forward into the bilge clogs, so all seems dry till you put the revs on, and the back end digs in. Then the water rushes back and out of the bilge glog holes....Few times hard revving and pumping the bilge out of about 15 gallons of water and all was well PHEW..

Took Ray back in then headed out again and started fishing at 1.45....:) Fished till 3.00 using 50p worth of bait.......And Blanked...:(

Good points for today.....managed to get fishing and try out the SK4 Boat rod.:)

Bad points...No hair left after pulling it all out, badly soiled boxer shorts, and £4.50 worth of bait left........but still smiling....:):)

This is my 3rd boat, but first one with an inboard, like you say Richy it's all a bit nervy first time out. But it's all a learning curve for me, part of getting to know the boat, and this time it only cost £1.20 for fuses..:D:D

Hey Chris, it's beensaid before, "A bad days fishing is better than a good day at work", do you reckon:confused::):(. At least thats the water pump sorted at last, shame you didn't catch to make up for the hastle:(. Well, you've got £4-50 worth of bait for the weekend:rolleyes: or for some new shorts

Yeah Arthur, better than being at work mate :). Its all water under the bilge, i mean bridge now :D.
Next time out it's wreck fishing for me, if the water is clear..:)

better to be safe then sorry mate atleast now you know you can go out next time with less worries now and again i dont miss my boat much because of the reasons but when you get it right it doesnt half feel good

it wasnt a leak it was a live bait tank :D

glad you got it sorted in the end tho...i'm gonna get myself booked on a charter soon...i need to top up that freezer too!

Hopefully all problems sorted now, still have'nt had the boat a year yet so i was expecting some glitches. As i was leaving the marina, one of the old blokes said to me " If there's someone you don't like, buy them a boat " But like Deano says when all's well, there's nothing better..:D

If i'd thought about it i could have put the £4.50 worth of rag in the bait well Axe, for the next time..:D:D.

Looking forward to the sunny summer days now, pulling the fish in and getting sun burnt...:D:D.

aye jester lad scary time:exclam: for sure,at least your sorted:)perhaps might be worth speculating a couple of quid on some toilet rolls:)

Well i decided to put my 1st trip off until Friday weather willing.

Just about skint until pay day so i hope the tank is full as i doubt i have the dosh to fill it up and never looked last time i was down lol, maybe a short trip.

May see you out there as going to have a day around Seaham piers on the rough ground and a sail into the new marina to see what its like.

I'll look forward to that Richy, let me know when you are coming down, you can show me how to catch some fish, ;).
I was wondering, can you fill the boats at the royal quays out of drums, or do you have to use the diesel berth to fill up.

It says you should not bring fuel onto the pontoons from your car etc but you see people doing it often. TBH the price at the R.Q pumps is inline with the rest so its not bad...well as not bad as fuel prices go these days.

Sure you will get some stonkers this year.
