I was thinking of taping something under the reel seat to stretch up to the reel so when you cast out the material comes straight of the thumb to control the spooldo you not get any problems with controlling the spool with wearing it on the thumb , thanks for your reply mate..![]()

inner tube can help , but some are even slippier when wet as some not proper rubberI use a thumb off a pair of marigolds .

andy shagannis uses the rubber tube thats used on buson burners, any thing that is true rubber should help

I steward I am a otg caster I done a bit tournament casting on here I was ok with smaller reels ,I haven't the biggest of hands lol, , I have a slight weakness my hand I thumb the reel with due to a brain injury I had 5 years back ,plus I grease all my bait with crab, blacks,squid,macki oil extracks which doest help and all my m8s seem to always use my rags ,never mind cheers and have a good winter..Actually Bob is on to something - it is a technique thing. On the odd occasion I suffer from spool slip I know it's because I've got the timing a bit wrong.
Spool slip is generally the result of too much power too soon - slow your cast down and hit it later and you should find it much less of a problem whilst maintaining or even improving your distances
