Had a session last night with Mike/Thunderpants, started at 22:00pm first mark, Roker pier. Not half as bad as the stories of the mess this place is supposedly in, 1 thing of obvious note was no bins.

Anyway we fished the pier from 22:00 - 00:30 not a bite for me, Mike did pull out an eel. I brought in my last cast before moving and it was heavy, I thought I must have a log or some weed on, I only went and pulled out the biggest crab I've ever seen in my life, edible crab weighing 2.1lb. :o

A move of venue was in order, though not in hope more in desperation as we had watched the dredger going in and out the whole time we were there. Next venue the ratty, shock horror when got there, another dredger just pulling its tool up and moving out. GREAT!

Stuck at it for an hour or so with Mike pulling out a small codling with his first cast, then nowt.

Next move, the walkway, we gotta catch there right, got there fished until 4am. A small whiting for Mike and a small dab for me again with my last cast, so a canny night out trying, but fishing wise it was rather dire.

The picture doesn't do the crab justice, it was massive.

Sunderland council had a team out clearing up the pier on Thursday morning and afternoon, they slowly drove up collecting the rubbish in bin bags, and I am not joking when I say the flatbed van with cage, had around 25 full bin bags before they reached the bunker....
