Turbot and Brill advice

Can anyone give me some advice on catching turbot and brill. I\'m fishing The Varne , out of Dover next Thursday, and I haven\'t a clue. I assume it\'ll be a long flowing trace, but hook size and what bait to use is the dillema. Any help would be gratefully received.

Hook size 4/0 - 6/0, and for bait a nice strip of Mackerel - prefferably from the belly. Flowing trace of 5 - 8ft depending on the tide.
If you can get hold of some live sand eel that is killer bait too.

Mick,

Why don\'t you just steal a regulars corner on the boat, get all your gear off the skipper and eat a starving friends dinner....it worked for you last time out...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeff.

You mean these:

Just like Kenny says - 5-8ft 30lb trace with a 4/0-6/0 strong hook. Take a mackerel fillet off and cut it in half (longways) then hook it once right at the end so it flutters nicely. 8oz flat sided lead is needed.

Keep the reel out of gear with your thumb on the spool and let the rig drift away from the boat to create a 45 degree angle between the line and the water. When you get one you will know about it! :D

Davy,
Don\'t you mean in todays political correctness, that I\'m a \"traveller\".

Thanks to the other lads for the advice.......especially Jeffs. Lol
