Fished the river for a couple of hours last night near the schooner.Had 1 codling and 1 whiting, codling just over 2lb not a bad sized whiting either.Had a couple of cracking bites too,not bad for 2 hours out not been out for a while....so nice to get a couple out.

Well done on the fish bud :) nice to be out and have something to show for it
Where abouts is the schooner mate? Never heard of it haha

Was there not too much fresh water in the river mate? Could imagine it would wash down loads of rubbish from upstream too?

The Schooner is on the Tyne, pretty much behind Gateshead Stadium... or thereabouts....

River tyne

Hi all new to nesa. Just thought I would share my story. Me and my m8 fished the river tyne (newcastle side) on Saturday. First cast I was into a whiting not sure of size second I think was another whiting. After about 30 mins my m8 struck his rod and pulled in a tiny baby codling. Before heading to tyne our original plan was to fish Blyth pier. But when we got there it. Was pretty full bearing in mind the weather was terrible it was so windy you couldn't notice any bites so after about 2-3 hours we packed up and headed to the tyne which proved to be a good idea. I will try and upload a few pics but they are nothing special. Just nice to actually catch fish form tyne and not weed and wood. Any info on any other good marks around the tyne would be much appreciated thanks

I find usually takes a couple days after the rain to affect the river up there.I was down last night too just a couple of chucks again, had another at 1.7lb one about a pound and couple of decent whiting.Someone was also out fishing the corner at the car park area wonder if they had owt?i made a beeline for home when it lashed about half nine.

Well had another session on same place today, had three codling out the biggest just under three pound quite surprised considering amount of rain weve had all caught on blacks and rag all went back too must get a camera sorted.
