Fished 3hrs down, 2hrs up at two different marks, had two bites but mostly bait came back untouched. Used squid, rag, mussel, even a sardine on 4/0 hooks. Got pelted by hailstones for my trouble.
Met David Storey (Stores) who had caught two small uns who talked to two anglers fishing Cullercoats who had bites but also caught nowt. Whilst loading car another guy came from Whitley beach, also nowt. Conditions to me looked perfect but fish didn't think so.
On the plus side, tried out my new neoprene chest waders and my Cree headlight both great.
went home to wife's home made broth and two large glasses of Lambs Navy rum needed purely for medicinal purposes. Going in the bath to read Davids book to see where I went wrong.
Bait left so will try again tomorrow.
ps Did anyone catch fish tonight

Yeah I went down to Whitley beach just after low water, wasn't really going to go down as it was hammering it down, when I arrived there it was like Blackpool illuminations all the way down the beach
well started to set up it the hailstorms ..thinking what the hell!! but there was a cracking sea running and strong winds directly from the east..so conditions was spot on,using rag & razor got a few bites on the first 3 chucks but couldn't connect..
Lots of lads by this stage was packing up and leaving as the weather was quite bad so decided to have one more chuck and bang ! the rod tip was banging away and then got stuck in the rocks..give it some slack and luckily it gave way and for the reward got a nice codling just under 4 lb
so not a bad few hours considering the conditions will be out again tonight for the club comp ...should be interesting considering the seas will be ever bigger :)
