Headed down to my favourite spot for two hours of peace and solitude. Feeling adventurous though, I decided to try the South End of the beach instead of the usual marks at the north end:D
Proved a good choice - I got a lucky rockling followed by 2 identical codling - both 1lb 11oz.
Lost one that felt very similar - snagged on the bathing pool skeer. The fish all bit as the tide started to flood. Canny little session and my last for some time, so well pleased. (bait was lovely lug from ID in Byker and some squid to tip off. 2/0 flappers. Kept it simple)

not a bad catch. I prefer bathing pool end on the flood and casting up the side of the skeer from the beach as the tide pushes your weight into the gulley.
 
Cheers Sea Troot - - that's exactly what I was doing:D - just got a bit close to the skeer on one cast and lost the rig with a fish on ( no rotton bottom:mad:) I'll certainly be back there in the future.
