headed out from amble today at 0800 aboard the upholder. headed north and fished the rough ground. Dave had us on fish from the word go. Good clean fish up to about the 6lb mark. everyone one on board catching. baited hoki and daylights doing the business. by 11 o'clock everyone had a good few fish. so i gave my small rod (6ft spinner with 15-25g castweight) i go with a spinner on hoping for some good makerel sport. however the cod seemed to really like it and i was soon battling with cod up to about 3.5lb. excellent sport on very light tackle. By 2pm everyone had more than enough fish, and most fish were being returned. then the cod really came on my fishing bud in 5 drops took abot 12 fish, most of them returned to fight another day. all about 2-3 pound. we'd never seen cod in those numbers it went on for 15-20 mins 2 or 3 fish every drop.
Temendous days fishing, topped off by the seagull that pooped in my face causing me to immmediately spew my ring. dave had us on fish pretty much all days so thanks to him first time i've ever put back more.fish than i've kept!!

sounds a bit like sundays trip for us,i took all my fish on a ripper, never thought about going really light:exclam: great day well done

sounds like a great days fishing! seen a few boats sunday but i was watching from afar as i was on fatherly duties and had kids down coast, dare say slightly disappointed i missed a cracking days fishing

a bird siht on my face once ,

so i punched her in the mouth.

well they say sith for luck and ya seem to have had some today .another canny boat session .

Seems like it used to be in the 80's off Dunstanburgh when every one used Muppet's catching box fulls of fish in the 2-4lb range with 4-6 fish a drop. Sometimes couldn't get the boat on the plane for all the extra weight.
Good to see many fish returned now-a-days. pleased you had a great day out, well done.
