uptide rod recomended

hello paul
i use the shimano uptide rods in the boats during the summer and cant fault them.
i have the beastmaster 6-10 oz and the lighter one 2-6 oz i think and they serve me well when downtiding great bits of kit

Cheers for starting this post Paul, i'm in the same "boat" myself.

Hopefully the fella with the big white beard will be sorting me an uptider out for christmas.

And i did'nt mean Mr Charlton either lol.

hi lads, i wouldnt go past my conoflex vampire 2, great uptide rod with excellent bite detection, bit pricey £250 or so 3 - 9 oz very good when fishing braid, im currently looking at zziplex as they are doing uptiders, but as tony mentioned his shimanos are the buis. cheers bud.

i think when it comes to uptide rods, you dont really need to spend the money as much as you would on a good beach rod.

I use the penn extreame uptide 2 - 6 - 10 ounce version.. light as a feather.. good performer, nice length and landed Tope up to 50lb with ease... you can get these for around £40 second hand...

the shakespear ugly sticks are also good value.

Shimano beastmaster 6 to 10oz i have 2 and cant fault them

snotty dog tackle has them brand new for about 70 quid ish

Uptiders

Uptiders

Hi Paul,
If your budget is around the 100 quid mark you should be looking at the Abu Suveron 6-10oz / Greys 6-10oz, best two uptiders on the market for the money. Have used the Greys on the boat for the last 4 years, even on the wrecks and they are just good kit.
Just invested in a couple of Suverons and they will be equally as good, just watch what your buying as there is a lot of rubbish out there.

I can recommend both the Greys and Fladden rods.I managed to bag myself a bargain off flea bay for the Greys..£36 and got the Fladden off this site, for £20.

Used both in the Severn estuary and both cast like a dream and pick up the slightest of knocks plus managed to bring in the heavier species like Ray and Conger.

Try the Greys shop at Alnwick, was in there the other day and G series Greys uptiders were going for £26,half the price of the shops.Think there were 2 of them and not a mark on either

Hope you manage to get out and give them some stick Paul.

I've got a feeling santa might bring me a shimano beastmaster.

We were out the other week and had a few codling to the north, on the drift tho as the sea got a bit nasty when we were going to anchor up.

was seriously considering the shimano beastmaster, but beacause they are just uptiding rods, which means leaving them out without jigging etc, i decided to get 2,and 2 beastmasters would have been just too much too spend lol, i like good stuff but dont like paying the prices, hopefully if greys live upto the reputation should be good kit. ;)
