Using cart

Alright lads

Just following on from the cart threads. I've never used it before but am picking up a slab tomorrow. I'm just working out his best to present it - I know that I need to wrap it in cling film or finger bandage but what about hooking it up. May be a daft question but I guess you cannot thread the hook through the cart bait. Do you need to just hook through an end and then whip it to the shank of the hook.

Looked in google but didn't find much so any tips appreciated. New bait for me.

Make sausages about 1" -2" long and I just put sausage on the back
Of the shank of the hook and whip it on with elastic mate and

I freeze it in a tray then cut it to size. Put it in tights then tie it on the shank with elastic then normally a crab in the gape

Make size of baits you want and wrap in tights. Wrap each piece in foil and back in freezer. Take them fishing in a food flask, take them out one at a time when you need them, unwrap from foil and whip them onto back of hook shank as tight as possible. Last about 15 to 20 mins in water generally (if you don't get a bite first). I generally add a bit of black lug or crab so there is always something for the fish to pick up if the cart is pretty much dissolved away at the back end of the cast. In rough ground you will know pretty quickly if there are any fish about.
