waders advice

Guys
I am about to buy a pair of waders (have about 50 quid to spend) what would you recomend - i will be wading to fish for bass in the sea and fly fishing in them, need a pair of chesties but do not know whether to go for neoprene, pve etc.

Please help.

Jason , get yourself a neoprene set, the thin rubber ones let the cold in instantly, I use mine for launching the boat then take them straight off.i paid about 65 quid 2 years ago hope this helps :thumbup:

i have the greys neopreme waders, top quality i think, cost me £90 likem but if you are wanting them for winter use aswell, then i would recommend these, but if you are only wanting them for summer use, i am sure someone else on the forum can recommend you some good summer waders, cheers

Agree with the lads neoprene for fishing. Try the fishingmegastore used to be glasgow angling centre prices start from around 40 quid depending on make and thickness. paid 60quid for mine 4years ago still mint can get a bit warm though.

If you need to walk anywhere in them dont go for the ones with cheap (£45) rubber wellies glued on, I had a pair and only lasted me three months!!! My brother has the Greys Apollo ones and are of top build quality, I have a pair of neoprene Snowbees' (£85) with the heavy duty boot on and they are good build quality.

Funny you should mention waders i,ve been looking about for a while for some for fly fishing at the resevoir. You can buy the chest type with the boots which have anti slip soles(studs or white rubber) on for about £90. This is the top dollar stuff. I,ve seen guys with them who look like they know what they are doing. Of course this is fresh water fishing. I have no doubt they can be used in the sea.
I have looked at e-bay and seen the neoprene. These look like things that surfers wear. Have not really noticed them before but by replies to your question seem popular.
I was warned not to buy the cheaper type of wader second hand due to leaks.

The first pair of waders I bought were a cheaper pair and I had to have them replaced as they split. The replacement pair also split and the shop I bought them from had closed.

I bought a pair of the Greys waders just after they came out and they are one of the best bits of kit I have bought, still perfect with no leaks either. A bit more expensive at £90:00 but worth every penny as they keep you warm.

I meant to say, the Greys waders are pretty good for "The man with the fuller figure" as a couple of my mates have them. I won't say who as you know who you are.
