rather than write this all out my self here is the report from our wales trip by my mate dave

What a fantastic place Wales is. At the invite of Dabcatcher and Monkeyhinger, myself, Bigpaul and Hibbdogg had a few days of fantasy fishing on the beautiful Lleyn peninsular and what a trip it turned out to be..............

24 species caught

tope ........ 24lb
dogfish
black bream, to 2lb
red bream
garfish, to 1lb 8oz
poor cod
mackerel
eel
ballan wrasse, to 5lb 12oz
corkwing wrasse
goldshinny wrasse
pollack, to 7lb
bull huss, to 11lb 8oz
whiting
thornback ray, ... 4lb 8oz
smalleyed ray, ... 3lb 8oz
spotted ray, ....... 2lb 12oz
dab
tub gurnard
launce
blenny
bass to 2lb
smoothound
codling

In one 3.1/2hour session we had 17 huss, a tope of 24lb and loads of dogs totaling over 220lb... FROM THE SHORE.

Jarrow Viking, Bigpaul and Hibbdogg all earned shimano specimen awards.

hibbdog .... 3 ... for huss, ballan wrasse and black bream.

jv .... 2 ... for huss and ballan wrasse.

bigpaul .... 1 ... for huss.

A few personal bests were recorded also.

I will let the pictures do most of the the talking lol.

First cast on the Lleyn produced these fine Huss between 9lb and 11lb

The Viking even managed a personal best double figure huss!

Then wham bam thank you mam, Sid, one of Dabcatchers friends hooked into this 25lb tope, what a tussle and the first one I have seen landed from the shore!

Fantasy fishing 220lb of fish landed and released in a couple of hours.

Bream and garfish were also on the wanted species list.

A specimen black bream of 2lb for Hibbdogg.

A couple of rock fishing sessions gave great results for pollack and wrasse.

A 7lb pollack!

A 5lb 12 ounce Ballan wrasse caught among masses of smaller 2-4lbers and a new personal best for myself.

Hibbdogg and Dabcatcher had fun catching the ever obliging wrasse, with a new personal best of 4lb 4 ounces for Hibbdogg.

These fish were brightly coloured, ranging from deep reds and oranges to lime greens. Hibbdog had non stop action with these fish and is now nicknamed the wrasse knacker.

Any type of ray was more than welcome on this trip and a small spotted ray and thornback turned up for Dave (monkeyhinger)

And a double figure huss!

Who needs Dutch harbour, when you have these spider crabs attacking your bait, honest they are that big.

More garfish and bream were caught and I must say they tasted lovely cooked in the oven.

Now I found out that I am not the best bream fisherman in the world, light line and tiny hooks are alien to me but I did finally manage one and a new personal best, over the moon is an understatement.

The wrasse knacker caught garfish but sadly they eluded me, next time maybe.............

Finally a group photo to remember this fantastic trip. Bring on next year.
