Walkway 13/9/14

Decided to fish from low to high with wor lasses brother, cousin and uncle who hadn't been out in a couple years, so armed with a bag of rag wasn't expecting anything much just to burn a couple of hours got there for 1.30pm was another 4 people fishing Nothing for first hour then a nice bite just under sized coalie which was a little smaller then I thought but kept my hopes for the rest of the session then completely dead all day last couple casts so loaded up a nice chunky bait full of rag was only out couple minutes rod started to knock which produced a nice just undersized codlin very slow day but at least I didn't blank better then sitting in the house all day weather was nice all day aswell so was a good day forgot to take a pic of coalie looking forward to the big sessions

How did you find the walkway,
Last time I fished there I did the same as you, last few hours of the flood then first few over, I found it snaggy at times? All depends on which part you fished I suppose?

Never had an issue with it being snaggy mate. Casting around 75yds puts you onto fairly clean muddy ground. You will lose the odd set especially when the tides are big. Use a decent grip lead and you should keep tackle losses down

I normally fish the middle... There is a ramp coming down next to the steps... I tend to stick in front of that. Due to the tides being quite strong between te two wooden jettys I wouldn't fish there as the tide can just swing your around into them. Some days even a 6oz grip lead won't hold bottom. The far end can also fish very well... Tends to be a winter fishing mark and usually when it gets dark.

Only had 1 snag all day. half way up about 75 yards out perfect might hit it next week one night will have to look at the tides

you should have considered fishing at British Airways. Cracking spot on the Tyne for some good flatties and eels. Snag free and very comfortable.

At least you caught a few fish mate. Personally I would go round a bit further to the pier, I usually only fish the walkway if the sea is massive.

I like the walkway on medium sized evening tides, Nov/Dec. Just a nice comfortable bit of fishing. Never had problems with snags there.
