Don't do it lol very difficult to do and very dangerous I nearly lost a thumb when my reel started to fluff up. I think Stewart 1971 uses it a lot I would pick his brains first

been looking on wsff and a lad on there loves it.what braid did you try mate

Havent you just bought a fathom m8 erm and a trq and a saltist.try it on one of them. I tried it years ago with fireline on a mag elite.nothing to be gained as it doesn't go as far as mono on a multi and as said could be dangerous on ya digits. Although the I reckon its fairly dangerous on a coffee grinder. Lol.

I've got 50lb on my 525 and absolutely fine! Apparently low dia digs in too much

Ive had you Stephie1 , cookie and Marsden all interested in the reel but for 1 reason or another pull out at the last minute the reel is up with pics so why people change their mind is beyond me

Key thing is not to get greedy with the diameter and use a round profile braid. I've got 66lb Power Pro (.36mm) on my Saltist 20 (your old Saltist 20 Peter, which IIRC was Mart's old Saltist 20 that he doctored to make it faster) and it goes absolutely fine. It's never going to cast as far as the .35mm mono on my 7HT Mags but that's not what I use it for. It's perfect for mixed - rough ground where a decent cast can be handy (some Shields marks for example) and with an 80lb leader attached with a Bimini / Slim Beauty knot I pull out of most snags before the 60lb rotten bottom goes.
