Warkworth Beach+Pier 26/06

Drove up to my favourite spot - Warkworth - to try for Mackerel and flatties from the pier.

Got knackered walking along the beach with all the gear and decided to try a few flings from the beach. There were two gill-netters working just off the beach - for salmon and sea-trout, I reckon. But I got a foot long flounder and a couple of titchies before trekking off to the end of the pier.

Managed tons of flounder and dabs on bait, mostly small. But was also chuffed to catch two whopping Mackies (well, about a pound and a bit each) on a little black Red Gill design lure. 45p well spent there.

Also well pleased with the 2nd hand Greys Bze 2-3oz rod I got from Billy's in N. Shields - lovely summer rod.

If youz like a good hike, lush scenery, and a bit of bird-watching (and a few fish) I reckon Warkworth is excellent.

Cheers :D
