Bring on the peeler crab, & the peeler eating smoothhound
Nice warm sea full of bait fish, To lob out a float fished sandeel in amongst them

I'm spending more time looking at YouTube videos of smoothhound fishing & I'm determined to break my record of a 16lb fish from Luce bay when I was young & fit enough to handle it

North Wales is we're I fish for them plus you have good rays there costs me about £50 for diesel round trip cool box full if crab and fish baits sorted for the weekend.

I'm gonna try all over the uk this year b4 I'm in my mobility scooter
Never fished much of wales done Beaumaris back in the 90's got pestered by thornback rays & cudnt get to other species

Caught a conger by hand !!!
Or should I say finger.....had my hand under a rock getting peeler felt something soft & thought it was a good crab until it latched on my finger bit straight through my marigolds, blood ****ing out everywhere
Canny eel though from what I remember bout 18" long
Got me hooked on wanting a bigger one & managed a few from breakers yard at cairnryan

was competing in an amateur boxing competition in 1984, Pembroke dock,
had a walk down the harbour, and watched a bloke land a 7 footer,

frightened the s88t out of me.

Must admit I was bricking it when I got my 1st proper eel, mind was scarred with visions of what a small one did to my finger didn't bear thinkin bout what the "biggun" could do.
Still see the scar now on my finger had to get stitches & a tetanus

I once saw fishermen in porthleven pulling huge ones out the harbour with a gaff when the tide trapped them in pools

Freshwater eels can carry a strain of hepatitis, so its probably worth some shots of some kind!
