Weather Conditions?

I\'m off out on the boat on Saturday, more than likely inshore, in the Sunderland area. I was checking the BBC local 5 day weather forecast and it stated a Southernly wind at point/mark 6. I understand the wind direction, but not the 6. I get the feeling that this might indicate a choppy sea, a little rough. I was hopeing someone could put me right and tell me what this indicates and what conditions I should be hopeing for.

Thanks in advance.

s an easterly blowing (although not hard) all week so the sea will be cut up a bit, it then goes to SE 12mph by Friday before settling 6mph South on Saturday. Result if forcast is correct will be a fair swell and chop on Saturday. If there`s been any easterly for a few days you need a day of west to flatten sea off first, not as it looks this weekend.

Still , time to do a bit of boat maintainence this weekend .
