Just got back from my annual trip to the Mull with the wife and kids.
The weather wasn't the best when we arrived (lashing down), although by Tuesday, it had settled down and the sun got out until yesterday.
This year, I decided to make a big effort for Bass on the plugs after last years encounter. Result - 1 rise
I also was after fishing a spot I'd seen for Pollack. It looked like Pollack heaven - and it was, even though I fished it on the ebb. I must have had close to 30 fish in 2 hours on the float and spun sandeel. Nothing big, up to 3lb, but brilliant fishing. I had 2 actually jump out of the water at my feet trying to get to the eels. I'd love to fish the place on the flood though, just to see what its like. The only problem with the place is its a t*** of a hike!!
Heres a couple of pics of the place...
The far point is another potential mark to try. As you can see from the pic, the place is a steep climb back up, I was knackered at the end of it.
On the walk back, I seen the biggest mushroom I've ever seen....
I took Emma with me down Lagvag point one morning, but had nothing but mackerel....
This is the bay out the front from where we were stopping - I spent one evening chasing a dozen Mullet that were playing about in a foot of water
Our home for the week...
I got up early on Friday morning to try my usual Pollack mark at Port Logan. Got to the top of the cliff to look down, and it started to lash down and the wind got up something terrible - decided to give it a miss as its pretty scary when its dry, let alone wet...
Decided to try after the Bass instead.
A couple of fellas arrived with a boat next door to us on the Wednesday, they had good sport with the Pollack around Port Logan all week, but also told me of the massive tope caught on Ian Burrets boat. What they also told me was that a lad on another boat had a tope on, which was then attacked by a Porbeagle
All in all, another great holiday, can't wait to go back next year.
