Fished Newbiggin bay on Friday night 5.30 till 10.00. Two fish on flounder and one whitting both went back. The whitting was long and skinny. Bait used makki, rag and lug. Flounder taken on lug whity on rag. coupl,e of big knocks which amounted to nothing.
Fished Cresswell boathouse on Saturday night from 6 till 10.30. between two of use 6 fish -5 flatties inc a plaice and 1 rockling. Bait used Lug, rag, runnydown, makki. both of us used two rods one fished short- sometimes ridiculously short and two long. it was the short ones that caught the fish.
Never seen the sea so calm on either night.
Couple of lads fishing just up from us in a Competition left fishless from that spot at about 8.30. hope they had better luck elsewhere.
Puzzled as to where to go next weekend if the conditions don't change
