When the colie and sandeel come in (should have been 4 weeks ago) i jig up and down the wall of the pier, no further out that 15 yards and when the mackerel come in i cast and spin south east from the pier till them show in force.
I have never tried from Whitby before so the ground maybe different, one thing is for sure, you wont lose as much gear as you do on shileds pier lol. Boats cant come within 30 yards of the pier are they run aground on the lead banks lol
I know what the weather says but i just got in from the pub and that wind could not blow a ant away, infact there is no wind at all and i live on a hill.
The forecast for tomorrow does not look too bad have looked at all the weather chart sites and it shows us having southwesterly to westerly winds at around 3-5 miles per hour. The inshore forecast also says that it will be slight. So people may get out the morra.
I can see the windmills on Cambois pier from my Velux window and they are spinning the sea looks a bit lumpy as well pm me if you need a update lol,as Jason says it looks ok for yous lot tomorrow providing it settles down early enough
I am going fishing up Amble today from the shore so i will give you a report when i get back.Looking out the window i would say there is a 10mph north wind over cast and looks abit like rain.
Yer its looking good for sunday, the lads in the local tackle shop or out on a charter tomora and he rang to say the trip was still on. Winds have dropped off and the sun has came out, fingers crossed.
I just got back from shields pier and the sea was slight and dropping off all the time, it should be a cracking day tomora..look forward to the catch reports.
