West House Trout Lake
FISHING REPORT 20/4/09
Settled conditions are producing some fantasic fishing at West House. Plenty of fish are rising with some good hatches of flies. Most of the action is on the surface or just below with the majority of fish being caught on Buzzers or natural patterns. Eraly morning or evening being the most productive times of the day.
Some anglers have caught large numbers of fish this week, regular Ernie Craster of Norton caught 25 fish on his favourite Worm patterns and claimed to have lost at least another 20 fish in an action packed session. Gary Stockton had a good day catching 12 fish on the larger Mill lake. Peter Williamson of Bishop Aukland on his first visit to the lakes caught a nice Rainbow of 17lb on a size 16 Black Buzzer and after a hard 20 minute fight said it was his biggest fish of a lifetime. Some nice Brown trout continue to show with Nigel Potts of Leeds landing a brace weighing approx 4lb and 5lb together with a further 6 Rainbows.
The lakes are now open until 8pm on an evening and and evening ticket is availablefor £8.
Flies of the week : Black or Olive Zonkers, Black Buzzers, Pheasant tail nymph, Hares ear, Wicked White, CDC patterns
