Whales in Wales

Been a few while the lads been fishing for the Blue shark, the boat we have booked for enxt year has had one at 500lb as well, lost one at the side of the boat est to be 700lb and also had a couple of smaller ones in the 30lb mark.

Blue shark fishing is sitting at drift with dead or live full mackerel set on balloon floats at depths, the tuna are taken these baits...if people targeted then they may catch more. The shark boats go out 30-40miles to the Atlantic drop off from south Wales mainly Swansea and Milford Haven but the Irish boats reprot catching even more tuna as are able to get that bit further out into the Atlantic.

Shame we dont see a few more up our way anymore, the old photos of Whitby and such with huge tuna being landed in the 1920's n 30s was amazing...it might break a fladden solid carbon rod thou.

As you say Richie, you have to target them, there has been a few yellowfin caught in the nets these last couple of years, so who knows whats chasing the feed down there. Now that the shoals of herring are getting more healthy you never know.
