:D HI chaps/ chapesses, a quick question? If you are fishing in the sea, and I do mean \'sea\' and you are spinning for mackerel and happen to catch a sea trout, or salmon.. Whats the score ?? can you keep them? or should you put them back.I see a good few salmon jumping when Im spinning off the pipe W/Bay and have wonderd \'what if\' :)

tich mate i think the rule is you have to be so many miles off shore to keep it,if its caught on the shore or close in you need a licensence, but i suppose if you are on your lonesome you are\'nt going to shop yourself. No doubt someone will know the official ruling on it but thats somewhere near in my opinion.

Unless you are licensed you MUST put the fish back, DEAD or ALIVE. That\'s the situation on this coast anyway. ( Irish Sea)

P.S. If you DO keep one and the Fisheries bailiff catches you, there are huge fines and confiscation of tackle used, including any vehicles used at the time.

But if it\'s dead and a passer by sends Rover the Labrador in after it, then he can keep it. Just like if you hit a pheasant whilst driving, you can\'t keep it but the car behind can. Mmmh, road kill pie - it\'s making me hungry.

That\'s the score on this coast too bigh.Didnt know about the pheasant tho\',how long have they been a north sea fish, and what bait do you use?lol

So as I understand it if I catch a salmon/ sea trout It has to go back unless I run it over ,the car!! or bike? behind me can stop annd pick it up ,, then gives it to nextdoors dog (who just happens to like to go fishing with me) who( the dog )then gives it back to Me,, Im in the clearThe only probalem I can see with this is,, 1 how do you get 2 cars on the Pipe?? 2 nextdoor are going to have to get a dog.. After I have sorted that little lot out Ihave to catch the fish,,and that for me is the hard bit :casstet: Me thinks i\'ll stick with catching mackeral and leave the salmon & sea trout alone,, thanks for the Info...Tich.... :D

tich just put it in your poke and say nowt,if its in size that is,or hide it somewhere take your motor home drop your kit off and go back and find a lovely fish lying in the grass lol ;)

...... unless I run it over ......

nearly ran a few over last year, when they finally decied to try and run before christmas there was virtually no water in the wear, so the ford at stanhope was barely 4 inches deep. sat and watched loads flapping over the ford to make it up river, only thing stopping me trying to run one overwas that whilst some were fresh run, many were coloured and ready to spawn. and the fact that I\'d probably fallten it. (hitting rabbits/pheasant/grouse for the pot is far easier)

did myt bit for the working man and picked a cracker out from between the stepping stones on new years day. 11lb bar of silver, still sea loused - it were lovely!
