Where to fish MOST of the time

There is loads of advice telling us to fish certain marks on a big tide with northerly or easterly seas and thats great. Unfortunately I want to get out regularly and 90% of the time its a medium tide with a moderate sea and winds from the south or west. So as a new member looking to fish between amble and tynemouth, what are the most consistent marks that fish well in these conditions primarily for codling. I am looking for a mix of beach and rock marks but nothing rediculously snaggy ( I would consider the front of st mary's very snaggy for example where as whitley pipe not so ). I want to get your views and advice so that I can chooses a good variety of marks that differ in both terrain and tactics to concentrate my efforts on. Cheers

When the sea is flat, there are 3 options. Firstly, is fish the river. There are many good marks in the tyne all with the chance of a half decent codling. Using crab will improve your chances but blacks and yellows fish well aswell.
Second option if u want codling is to fish the deep water rock marks. Heading north to craster, beadnell, boulmer, howick ect. is best but there are also quite a few closer to home. Cambois hole, beacons, boghall, cresswell cars all of wich can be tackle hungry. These are best fished during darkness aswell.
Lastly, is forget about catching codling. Scale down your gear, lighter rod and line, smaller reel and go scratching. Use size 4 hooks on a 2 hook flapper rig and bait up with lug tipped off with a small cube of mackerel. Most beaches hold plenty smaller fish and these are easly targeted when the sea is flat during darkness. Warkworth, druridge, private beach, cambois beach (nxt to the pipe), blyth beach and king eddys bay to name a few. Hope this helps.
