which line for rock fishing

I use 30lb, and normally use something cheap. I change it pretty much every session. Even the best lines become frayed on rocks so why use the expensive stuff?

For me, it's Suffix Tritanium 30lb (or occasionally 40lb Greylon), coupled with a 60lb leader. You can also get away with using the 40lb stuff straight through. Until recently I used 30lb Trilene, but the Suffix stuff is pretty tough & a good deal cheaper - casts a little better too as it doesn't lift.
Also heard very good things about Stren Blood Red in 30lb, though I've only used the 15lb stuff myself - like Trilene it seems the B/S is under-rated; the 15lb is more like 20 & very tough, it's what I use when fishing the Tyne around the Fish Quay or Walkway/Groyne marks.

diawa tornament cracking line.
i use 30lb trilene, i did used to use a cracking line, it was a low diameter 40lb line. cant remember the name, my dad got me it for xmas years ago, had a marlin on the sticker lol. it was a mile spool ;D
still got some of it left, i will have a look when i get back home in a week or so. it always used to be fine for casting and for fishing in the really rough stuf.
im like saen, i like to change it on a regular basis, shocked at the state of the line after a few casts when fishing really rough rock marks

any 40lb line.... the cheaper the better.......rock fishing doesnt need long casting,,,,usually 20--60 yd lobs into gulleys and kelp.....so why pay for expensive lines when it will get worn near enough the same as the cheaper lines......i always strip the last 10 - 20 yds after each trip and replace the 60 lb shock leader ....which i always fish with....it acts like a rubbing leader on the rocks....this method has served me well for the past few seasons rock fishing....

i agree with sean 30lb enough to get on ya reel well 525 mag but some rock marks a shockleader maybe usefull to lift a good fish

There's some very good advice in the replies by the lads already.
My favourites are, Trilene, Tritanium, and for the money you can't get much better than Daiwa Sensor. Once you've tried a few brands you'll end up with your favourites.
What I would say is avoid some of the newer lines that claim to have a very low diameter for the breaking strain, they don't offer the same abrasion resistance as the normal diameter lines.....one little nick and you've lost your gear. There's a very good argument for buying lines by the diameter rather than the breaking strain.

ive used the 30lb and yes its extremely strong,i once got snagged and after a lot ov pulling summit finaly give way,when i wound in my trace was still attached and i had actually pulled the loop out ov the top of the sinker

used many different lines over the years targeting the bigguns. if am fishing short into kelp i use 25lb tritanium with a shocker.
If am lashing a pendulum in a big sea it is 18lb sensor, cheap but i swear by it.
prefer diawa sensor to tritanium for casting because ive noticed the thinner suffix tritanium tends to dig in after a snag or a heavy retrieve. this causes crack offs on the following cast. (more with the 20lb suffix tritanium) thumbs up for strength though
