Strange session over high water yesterday on the cliffs. Me and a mate were getting positive bites virtually every chuck on all baits but they never developed and couldn't hook up. Baits were coming back "munched" but still there and I don't see any way they could have been crabs, some of the bites were really positive.

Tried scaling down hook sizes and all that but to no avail.

Anyone any idea what could have been going on ?

Eventually dropped down onto Whitburn beach as the tide fell away and caught a few small codling and a lone dab. Bites there were exactly as you would expect.

fish r stuffed solid at the minute m8 smaller baits is the answer, fish on sunday night were coughing up sandeels.

Had 4 myself last night in club match on shields pier and every one spat out loads of sand eel. Most I saw had spat sand eel out.
