Just been over to Whitehaven again this weekend to see my Mother.
Managed to get another fishing session in on Friday. I had planned to fish the West Pier again but I could not figure out how to get onto it as there were barriers up everywhere due to the gale damage, so I opted for the end of the North Pier (only to find later that some other guys managed to get onto the west pier somehow
).
I fished the end of the North pier with two rods, one with blow lug on a 2 hook flapper and one with Mackerel on a 2 hook flapper. After the last session over at Whitehaven I was hoping for some hard fighting Dogfish (caught 7 there last time) but the Doggies did not turn up
Still ended up with 29 fish in total, mostly Whiting with about 7 Dabs in amongst them. Whiting were taking lug and Macky while the Dabs only took Lug. No sized fish the whole session and no Coddies but at least I was kept busy running from one rod to the next
Whitehaven is normally known for Dogfish so does anyone know whether the Doggies are a summer fish over there or where they just on an off day ?
