Whitie saves blank, walkway, 03/01/14

Went out this afternoon to fish 2 up, 2 down. Went to ssp first and climbed round the gate at 2.30pm, and attempted to fish the seats.

Got completely soaked by a wave when I was baiting up and first cast just got washed straight back into the side, so gave up and went onto the little beach. A lot calmer there but nothing biting so went round to the walkway for 4.30pm.

About an hour into the ebb I got this whiting nicely lip hooked on Ragworm on a 4/0 manta.

Probably the biggest whitie I've had at 39cm.

Nothing else, and crabs were taking the bait so left at 6.30pm

Thought I might have had a few more today, but happy not to blank.

Cheers mate. It was stinking though, still got the smell on me hands after scrubbing them

Same story for me last week minus the soaking. I got a nice whitey off the Groin pier then nowt for the next 4-5 hrs. Got a couple of decent fillets of the fish and in the freezer now.

Well done braving that wind mate. I had a look last night and didn't fancy it at all, could barely stand up at Whitburn.
