Whiting and Coalfish/Saithe

With the Cod not showing much on our Summer trip, we kept a decent sized Whiting and a Coalie. Took them out the freezer today and Lynn deep fried them in batter. Whiting was lovely, Coalie? Well it's flesh was a bit grey, but tasted OK ish. Probably wouldn't have it again though.

the trouble iz m8 a lot of folk send fish back without trying them but any fish in the sea is worth a try ,ive eat whiting ,cod ,coalie ,pouting ,pollock ,and many more but i dont eat many fish im a give away catcher most time its for the sport ..dont knock em till ya tried them ;)

most fish are lovely fresh , not tried a pouting yet but if i get a good size i will. i have had coale in batter and alos coali spiced up . must say the firm coalie flesh is good for like a spicy fish bake / grill just add ur own favourtie flavours. .

Whiting are quite nice but as part of the cod family then you would expect it.... very under-rated. Light batter with a lemon and garlic mayo..... D E L I G H T F U L !!!!

Grey Coalie flesh... hmmmmmmm
