got down there for 12.30, used a popper i moved around the rocks fishing in all directions for about an hour and a half with no luck, the weather was pretty dreadful and there seemed to be nothing stirring i only saw two or three birds, but still nice to be out, this was my third blank here this week, i fished Tuesday and Wednesday high tide and an hour after using poppers and spinners only got a spinning week rod this week so it could be technique letting me down. but i have really enjoyed myself on the rocks its quite exhilarating with the waves breaking at your feet.
any advice on how to use poppers would be great or were else i should be trying would be great.

I have been blanking with plugs since last August so don't get disheartened matey! What were you fishing for, anything in particular?

choice is move around (scratch) or stay put. Try to work the popper at random speeds - no rush, with varying little tugs - you're trying to mimic a dying bait fish on the surface twitching around.

as for the waves, if you're not wearing a floatation suit (and who would in the summer) then get at least a cheap life jacket and make sure you're either not alone or a couple of people know where you are going, take a mobile and drop the odd text to keep your status updated, I tend to be a wandering loner, so text my lass, usually "not a fkn bite!" - safety first and foremost

thanks for the reply to answer i would nt be upset to catch a bass but anything would do, am tempted to go on one of the piers to catch a few mackerel but cant stand the f***wits that get on in the summer and there is nt an early high tide till the end of next week.
Dont have to be back at work till saturday nightshift so have all week to try some new marks, any ideas.

at the moment have only got the use of my spinning rod as the nut on my reel handle for my beach caster fell off last week on the peer 2nd cast of the day 5.30am, so I need to get it fixed. so i maybe a bit limited to were i can fish ?

if you want to try the peirs for mackerel try day break, that time very few people will be fishing and the people who are wont be idiots and just be like you trying to fish in peace without the idiots.
