Fished Whitley Beach tonight with Gregg, Phil, Phil's mate Chris, Carver and Cocomonkey

After a tentative start it turned out to be quite a mini species session ;)

Couple of these...

And to cap things off quite nicely...

:D:D...2lb 8oz Codling :D:D

Rig for smaller species - 2 hook flapper size 2 Aberdeen baited with single ragworm

Codling caught on 3/0 pennell baited with rag and Lugworm

In the name of science - when I knew I was into a better fish - I deliberately (almost to the point of exaggeration) took my time reeling it in to see what the fight would be like...as a result I STILL maintain that I am yet to feel a fight from a Cod/Codling...it came in like a plastic bag:rolleyes:

The 1/2lb Coalies gave a better show for themselves than the Codling...but I am here to learn and I'm sure my time will come ;):D

Gregg caught a couple of whities but everyone else blanked...Carvers blanking run still continues :o

Tired now...we fished from 2100hrs until after 0200

Cheers

Tony ;):)

Nice report mate and well done on the cod. I think it was closer to 3lb like. It was a fat little thing. Good night but very quiet fish wise.......apart form Tony who was gettin loads. Fish a chuck for a spell! Nice to meet Cocomonkey and CAver. Told you we would find some fish. You will get your share soon, just keep trying:)

Quality report mate! Did you move around the beach or hold the same mark?

We all started off at the North Skeers area...the others moved off towards the Briar Dene but I stayed put...caught the Rockling here

then moved onto Big Bay (as the tide started to turn) which is where I caught the rest of the nights catch...after that we tried Panama - which is where Gregg got a Whiting

...I think it was closer to 3lb like. It was a fat little thing...

It wasn't mate...it was over 2 1/4lb when weighed at home (gutted on the beach) and I doubt very much that the guts etc weighed 3/4lb so I'm being conservative ;):D

I'm glad we tried it on a flat sea...was a bit sceptical to be fair but at least now there's other flat sea options to the rocks :)
