think they are designed for rocky or kelp marks the flight acts as a lead lift keeps it up a bit longer when striking to avoid getting snagged up

Agree. Seen a guy fishing at 44 one day and hoying into the river, he never got snagged up once. Pretty effective I thought. Wouldn't have thought they would help with distance like, probably the reverse.
