Wrasse

Has anybody seen a Ballan Wrasse caught from Shields pier before?? My brother caught one this afternoon, first time I\'ve seen a one caught off there!!

Yep, I seen a lad get one from \"The Post\" about 2 years ago.......good size it was, too.

Forgive my ignorance Tony but where is the post?? This wasn\'t anything special probably about 10\" long! He has a photo of it on his phone. Caught this one down beyond the gate where the pier bends round to the right.

It\'s called \"The Post\" because there\'s a large wooden post attached to the pier wall (on the habour side), which just protrudes above the height of the pier.
You may have seen it or walked past it many a time and not given it a 2nd thought,

Yeah I saw it yesterday Tony. He caught it between \"The Rail End\" & \"The Post\" into the harbour!

I caught one a few years ago, off S T Marys Lighthouse, I was just messing around with my spinning rod,co\'s the beechcaster was\'nt catching anything , so I thought ill give a few limpets a dip and see if thers any eddy crabs or with a bit of luck lobsters about ehded up with a 1 1/2lb ballan wrass on the end only the second one I\'v caught,, yhe other one was off the skeers in West Bay also taken on limpet, whilst I was mucking about,, !!!! memmo!!! must muck about more often,,,,

In 2003 i had over 30 from the pier using a float and ragworm, none of any size....8oz being the biggest.
