Zippo Hand Warmers

Am guessing any good out door shop or ex militery will sell them. I got 1 for the start of winter, it was fantastic for about an hour then died. Even when I fill it up with loads of fluid.

I've got one for this season.
First couple of sessions it would go out, but now it stays warm all night.
I think i was flooding mine at first. now i just fill it from the tin untill the white 'stuff' stays wet. I light it in the house before i go fishing to make sure it gets a hold.
It does seem alot hotter in the house then when out fishing though?

i found trying not to get fuel on the catalytic burner helps

Not an answer to this question, I know, but I prefer the Peacock ones. Use mine regularly and just replaced the burner on one after two years use.

Zippo handwarmers are the mutts nuts , but ya have to give them air or they'll go out . If you leave them in a tight pocket they'll die but easily relit if ya can protect them from the wind :-) on a fill they go for over 12 hours and you need to put them on a trivet when you finished fishing as they get really hot .
Ya can get them on eBay or good camping shops.

why do they get really hot when you get back in the house:question:
would be nice if they were that hot whilst out fishing.

Put in in your box while fishing without the bag on for 10 mins , then touch it !! Red hot mate , I see ya use one , they get hotter in the house because there not in the cold air and arnt being handled , don't put fuel on the catalyst !!!! It's there to burn the fuel vapours not fuel , great kit if used right and once you get used to there moods :-) sure there female lol

I use the peacock copies off eBay, think there listed as peacock patent handwarmers. Only about £2.50 each plus about £3 postage from China. Less than a tenner for 2 on ur doormat in about 12 days. Used mine on about 3 sessions and they work great, even if they only last 1 winter they will still be good value I reckon.
Agree with lighting them before u get to ur mark tho, I light mine in car and by the time I'm set up with line in water they've both warmed up champion!

The only place I could find them recently was GoOutdoors (the Newcastle one) where they had the Whitby ones. They were more expensive than the zippos of Amazon.
I went with the zippos and they seem canny so far.

Hi i was looking at the Zippo Handwarmers on Sunday at Timpsons in Eldon Sq think they were £24,I got a Whitby & Co one from Cotswolds on Northumberland St not used it yet tho lol , also if you go on Askaris web site you will find them on there for about £3 each plus P&P dont know how good they are they look like a copy of the Whitby one.

Hope this helps

tony

I have a zippo and a cheap chinese peacock copy. I have always had problems getting the Zippo to fire up. Filled both last weekend and the Zippo failed yet again before i left the house. Faffed on with it when i got back and eventually got it to work. lasted 8 - 10 hours like the cheap copy.
I would suggest caution over buying the Zippo and try the cheap ones first.

Got 2 Whitby ones last year from millets outdoor shop they have a sale on this time of year got mine for £7.50 each supposed to be £15

ive just got a pair off fleabay for £7 each. came next day. The ones with the butterfly on. been running on 2 stroke for an hour now.
