Zziplex advice

Looking to buy a new zziplex, mainly for rough ground and long range fishing but also thinking of a return to the casting scene. Any ideas? Price isn't really an issue and I don't want second hand. Already looked through Simon McCarthy's rods, but after advice from some of the forums bigger hitters.

Hi mate, I got a Zetec last year, but have to say I'm not all that impressed. It casts ok, but I prefer a longer rod and I found that it doesn't lock up very well when pulling fish through the kelp. I think the problem is that Terry Carroll, being a south coast fisherman & rod builder doesn't really understand how to build a rod that'll fulfill the needs of us northerners:) However, I do know a lot of lads who like theirs & I do still use mine where the shorter rod can be an advantage (where things are maybe a bit cramped).

What has caught my eye recently is the M427; it's 14ft long and very light. I've not had a chuck with one yet, but watching a lad who's got one I get the impression it would be good on the rocks & it's got a very stiff butt-section & looks to load up nicely on the cast.

As with everything though, it all really comes down to personal preference & one man's dream rod can be another's nightmare! If you're ever up this way you're welcome to have a chuck of my Zetec to see what you think.

Gary :)

bought a 14ft lt14 last year and never looked back , it has a backbone to deal with good fish and is a brilliant caster, bought it from gerrys. advise you to visit the place and have a feel of the rods.
appantly the m4 evo is a new version of the rod and am planning to buy it.
a lot of the other zziplex rods i felt were too weak.

the new evo is the one for your type of fishing marra, belting big baits a long way.
should meet up marra, i fish with jonesy a lot.

The latest version of the lt14 is the lt14 Evo . I have both the lt14 (in the lt14 M4 version ) and the M4 Evo they are different animals. M4 Evo is the latest version of the M4 and is 13ft 5 ins as opposed to the 14ft of the lt14 . Both superb rods capable of huge distances, the M4 Evo is my current field rod . I wouldnt class it as a heavy ground rod............ its much to good for that :D :D :D

Sean my mate beachlover has a couple of Zziplex rods. He would be good for information but unsure if he still looks at the forums.
They seem to be good (but expensive) rods.

Mick.

Thanks for the advice lads, I've ordered a custom build M4 Evo from Chris Dance. Pricey and a long wait but should be worth it. I'll pop some pics up when I get it.

Just bought a zippy lt14 m4 can only say a very nice rod and it dont bite back, seems to put out the lead without any probs

had 2 rods built by Chris dance zziplex primo synchro and zziplex dymic lt bullet, build quality is the best i have ever seen. Bullet is mint over heavy ground and is one of the best casting rods i have owned, and still has very good bite indication.

good choice seanny mate . me cuisin has got 1 hell of a rod. but he has gone back to ttr(limeted edition) and was on about selling the m4evo. i woulda let u no but ive just seen the post. u wont believe the power in the rod for the weight and slimline blank its amazing.

think this is a out dated post like.
