Hi Guys,
Looking to by a new rod to be used on the NE coast, the normal - rocks,piers and beaches.
I,ve sort of done my homework and read all the reviews -as you do !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The rod that keeps coming up is the Zziplex dymic LT Bullet, I am not going to ask how the
rod will perform - its a Zziplex and it will perform !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There must be a lot of these rods being used on this coast, just wanting a few opinions - pros and cons etc !!!!
I am not a tournament caster, I just want to put a lead out and fish !!!!.
All feedback appreciated.

not sure about the rod in question mate but i can highly recomend a century kompressor ss
ive owned mine now for just over a year and i would never get rid of it it will handle anything you throw at it including heavy ground. Its also cheaper than the rod in question. like you said your not a tourny caster and you dont need to be to use a SS
 
Iv had a go of my mats lt bullet nice rod for clean 2 mixed wouldn't use it in the ruff stuff like, I have a m4 Evo that's a class all round rod bud when I'm fishing hevey ground I use the ttr Orr and my m4evo is better than me mates lt bullet but all zZiplex ar diff
 
as with any zippys non the same i personally wouldnt use these on rock edges or heavy ground as there to soft in my opinion like all zippys really mate softish tip good bite detetion and the bullet has alot of power in the butt but again unless your swinging it and compressing the the rod past the mid section they will feel soft only when you get into the butt will you feel the bullets power but bewae some bullets are nice and stiff some are numb hope this helps now if your fishing really heavy ground but still want the zippy bite detection try a zeteque txl make a eliminator look like a spinning rod lol
 
Go for the zziplex mate there a better rod you can feel the difference everyone in the north east has slowly been brainwashed and pushed to buy century
Down the years cos most the local match lads use them and genty was the only
Place you could go and know you could get what you wanted from zziplex stock and conoflex which are still quality rods make your own choice don't just go century cos everyone on the blocks got one that's not to say that they are a cracking rod n there own right

not all bullets the same some are stiffer than others used them for years will handel eney thing go for bullet mate
 
Hi mate, best advice would have been to attend a casting event where just about everyone uses Zziplex! Problem is it's now the end of the casting season.

Ive owned most Zziplex over the years, having owned all of those detailed below - here are a few to look at.

M4 EVO, slim light and powerful, just about copes with heavy ground, struggles a little with 6oz plus bait.
Hst EVO, as above, slightly thicker but more powerful and tippy. Will cast the bigger leads with a decent technique.
M427 Std a great all rounder, very well balanced and will do everything well, a bit longer at over 14ft. Would be the rod I would recommend to anyone, progressive action
M427 SU as above but more power lower in the tip and butt a bit heavier. Best avoided unless you can wind it up
Txl gt, exceptionally powerful but with a glass tip for bite detection.Superb casting rod for big leads but glass tip folds a little in the really rough ground.
Txl carbon tip - A beast of a rod and only really good in extreme rough, not great bite detection.
Zeteque std, as above but shorter and slightly softer.
DYMIC LT Bullet, similar to Hst EVO, longer more powerful tip but slightly softer butt, an older model but still good. The older burgundy Lt bullets were stiffer again.

Your choice, depends if your after a 13ft 6 rod or 14ft 4 model. For pleasure it would be a M4evo but to get the job done it would always be an m427std.

I was in touch with Harry Barker and he said exactly what you said and that guys clued up.
I think it has to be the dymic though, hopefully someone with dymic bullet will pipe in with his opinion on the rod.

Davey,everyone will have a different opinions on whats good and whats not,and rightly so.
I think Chukka has done a very good summary on The Zzpilex range of rods and is spot on with his description.

Some say Zziplex rods differ a lot even between same models and they are right more so the older models.
But I think now he has got them a lot closer match now,and talking to Terry a couple of weeks ago he said,years ago he used to hand roll blanks and would maybe do a batch of say 6 bullet and would be nigh on the same,but the next day doing the same batch would be slightly different because of temp,tension on rolls and himself how he felt.
All change now as machines have taken over to give better quality control.All I can say is I've used Zziplex for years and they are of very good quality.

I PERSONALLY am not too keen on zippys,I have a kompressor SS and love it,try and have a try of a few rods before u buy.....your more than welcome to sample my SS!

That's fine if you have tried Zziplex's of late. Most lads haven't even experienced them! The problem is actually getting your hands on one, most tackle shops can't be bothered to stock them or are sold out straight away so you can't even have a fondle in the tackle shop.

The newer Zziplex models are in another class and hold their value like no other. I have used centurys as well but they do miss out on feel.
I had an SS and whilst it was a tool it was missing something. The newer Century models with the fancy resins are however lovely if expensive bits of kit, very light with much more feel. Its new technology so time will tell on reliability.

Best advice I could give anyone is minimal build, ditch all the heavy underwhips and highbuild, excess shrinktube , heavy rings etc and your rod will come alive.

I've got a Dymic LT bullet mate,Take it away and try it and see if it suits you.
I've also got a M427 that you can try as well, and if your not happy come back and take my Zeteque for a run oot.
But if you want to take my Zeteque I would have to follow you about.:D

Be careful with the words bullet, there are loads of variations. The glass tipped one's are no good in kelp but an lt bullet will handle it no bother.

An lt14 is much softer than an lt bullet.

Sorry it was a dymic lt bullet I used to fish south shields pier alot in my Weston sac days and it was doubled over lifting fish up the wall was lush to cast tho

Crazy really!!

The LT bullets are good for cushioning the lunges of a good cod but do have a through action!
