Missed the Boat

After several attempts to get out on a boat this year ( all cancelled due to the windy summer and high tides ) I was wondering how seasonal boat angling is ?

I know with Autumn / Winter approaching from the shore species like mackerel vanish and hopefully some nice sized cod move closer in. How does this affect boat angling, can bigger cod be caught closer in over rough ground ? Do many boats take bookings over the colder months ? And if so any boats around North East you would recommend. I admit to being quite jealous after seeing some of the excellent catch reports, with pics, from other boats who didnt take much notice of a 'high Tide' but still took a gamble that payed with some great catches.

Sorry for all the questions / rambling on, just wanted to know whether to put my boat gear away until next year.

Cheers all

Jonny

so do i am crew yes the other dave takes boat midweek and is also winning the hartleppol fest with a 20 lb odd ling mate he has been a charter skipper for a long time as well as beeing a very nice guy who looks after his partys
VERY WELL

5-6 weeks left of the season still.

Also some charters take people out fishing the rough ground int he winter months and do very well some years.

I know from the Tyne anyway that the JFK does trips in the winter months on the hard ground and past years done very well, the Mistress prob also does the trips but could not confirm that.

I myself had a few trips out over the winter and did catch but i am ot upto speed with the good winter marks like some and the charters.

Bottom line still time yet.

i was not knocking dave or his boat as i reckon yea hes the best skipper out of h/pool just saying i prefer going on the famous when hes skippering the boat, as dave will do all he can to find fish for you , and as i,ve blanked before on his boat and he just says help your self to the fish i caught, so never gone home empty handed ever on his boats

Thanks for the replies. Looks like this might be a good time to try and catch my first double figure. Might try booking something through the week as weekend weather always seems bad !

If I manage to get sorted and actually leave terra firma you will be first to get a report.

cheers
