Often seen diggers around Cambois and W/Bay/ St Marys.
But i guess its down to you finding the spots that work for you.
No one is going to give hotspots away

if its rag u want then u will only get it in the river round here m8, down monkey's
they dont leave any tell tail signs so u just trench.
best 2 get in the rocks & dig round the big rocks & under the sml'er 1's hard work but u hit the biggies.

the guys are right this time a year round big rocks they seem to be around and good size but hard graft ,any where its loose shingle type beds will be small stuff best left alone to grow

Dunno if you can still get there but below Frazers on the quay, also the rocks to the right of the fish quay beach (only on big tides as it's the 2nd bed of rocks you want) otherwise the left of the beach, south of the river infront of the boat yards/fire training all the way along, get down the ladders infront of the new houses near the groin. For lug, boulmer or St Marys, infront of the sewage next to the rocks. There will be many other spots but those are where i used to dig. Hard work for the rag, best taking a fork & spit.

don't know if they still let you in, used to get a load from the breakers yard at Blyth, I was never bothered as long as you kept away from the walls, wherever you go in the Blyth make sure you have the bath run for when you get back and plenty airfreshener, if you don't come back covered in stinking mud you have been in the wrong place.

Are you still talking about collecting rag or just Blyth in particular??:)

there used to be good mussel beds at blyth- cambois untill they were destroyed by the rag worm diggers

go to the old ferry landing at cambois rive and walk left till u get to the wooden posts in the sleck and dig theres pleanty but like said trench and i find best find a spot of rock move them out the way first then ul see there tracks under rocks dig there m8 some times dnt have to dig pick them off the top of were u just turn over.

Best worms are dug individually on the biggest spring tides,i know a place locally where you can collect big snakes. :)

Blyth behind where the Golden Fleece used to be, next to the ferry landing all the way along to Bate's Staithes - just don't dig near the boats as it'll leave soft muddy holes the lads won't thank you for!

was going to go digging at the weekend but the fishing is pritty bad so wasnt worth it. ill go crabbing soon instead of digging and then atleast i can freeze them till i need them (when fishing picks up)

thanks for the advice though ill try digging some other time :)
