got to sharpley for 1pm, where paul and Andy were already set up and just waiting for me and Bob, Bob arrived about 10 mins later so we all had a coffee, Went onto the Albert and alice and paul was straight into what seemed a decent fish til its fin came through the water, then we knew it was a really decent fish, after about 10 mins i was ready with the net, only problem was , the fish was to big
so i had to get its head and as much of it body in then scoop it out, a nice Blue trout weighing in at 12lb and a new PB for Paul
Pauls new PB 12lb bluey
Me and Bob stayed on the Albert lake for another 45 mins Bob had 1 out approx 2 1/2lbs but with nothing showing for me, so i decided to try the Cuthbert (killing lake) First cast and a new PB for me, a rainbow of 5lb 8 oz beating my previous by 2 oz
but a new PB all the same, i was happy, then another rainbow of 3/2 lb came to the net.
my 5lb 8 oz rainbow
Off to the lodge for a coffee then back to fishing, Paul tried the hangmans with the dry flies, Bob stayed on the Albert and i went back to old faithful Cuthbert, changed from a yellow dancer to a hares ear buzzer with illuminous green cheeks and 4lb leader, cast out BANG line going all over the lake though this has to be the same size as the other if not heavier, so i knew i could`nt bully it with the leader i had on so i played it for about 10 mins or so, then i seen its fin and thouth this is definately bigger, got it to the net and guess what, it was to big.Had to grab my leader right next to the fishes head so i could also hold the side of the net, and grab the other side of the net in my other hand, with head and part of body in the net i scooped it out, another fish full of eggs, squeezed them out, the fish went on the scales at 8lb 5oz, a new PB again
My 8lb 5oz rainbow
Andy left to go home as he was leaving for north wales early hours, think Andy had about 6 out all average apart from 1 at 4lbs.
went back for a coffee with the lads, then took Bob up onto the Cuthbert as he had never fished it before as he always fishes Catch & Release, first to casts produced another 2 fish for me, Bob missed a few takes, so we decided to pack up, this was around 10 pm.
on the way back to the cars Bob said, its worth paying the extra few quid to fish the Cuthbert as its really peaceful and tranquil up there.
3 1/2 lber......... 5lb 8oz........ and the 8lb 5 oz
so heres my new PB 8 lber
Next week Andy will still be in Wales, Bob is out on a boat so it will just be Me and Paul.
Quite a productive day, i had 6, Bob only had the 1 but quite a few missed takes, Andy had 6 or 7 but Paul was the daddy with about 10 or so and quite a few missed takes and a few losses
