isnt it funny how people build up a fishing club and others keep trying to knock them
we (the cleadon club) had 40 lads turn out and fish on monday night
best turn out ever
then i hear that people in another club say
yes but half of them are crap anglers
they still have the chance of winning £1300
for one big fish

sparks of jealousy i think

You Should name who is trying to Tarnish the club Sless , Jealous yes and more possibly if they are in a club themselves they might be coming cap in hand to join up next year ,after thiers has folded

it doesnt matter if the anglers are the best in the world or not as long as the club is run well and the members are happy and with a turnout of 40 your club must be doing something right

agree entirely sless, nothing but jealousy. Would rather be a member of a florishing club full of all different standards of anglers, that is how you learn. Tahn a struggling club with half a dozen top notch anglers where most anglers are afraid to join because they know thye will never win anything.

40 lads is a fantastic turn out sless certainly a club to be proud of a clubs only as good as the members thats in it I reckon

Aye its a funny old world - Sless we could always go back to the good old days of the Cleadon Club ,when it was You ,me ,Geordie Stobbs , and AN Other cant remember now - when the Bait for the Comp cost MORE than you could win on the Night :o :o

LMFCO :D :D :D

Never been in a club and probably never will as I work 3 shifts and would miss most of the meets. However, after what I\'ve read on here over the years, it would definately be the Cleadon Club if I were to join one.

As once quoted by Robert Bringle:
\"Envy can be a positive motivator. Let it inspire you to work harder for what you want\" - maybe they should read and learn instead of knocking others.

Stuff em Graham, it\'s not worth getting chewed over mate ;) :D

ime in a small club westoe sac and love it its all about going out there enjoying yourself and doing what u enjoy it dont mater if you are a top match angler or a novice there all good lads in ur club m8 having a canny neet

just read the post sless, whats the point of slagging folk off because they want to fish in a club? and how do you constitute a crap angler, by how much he catches? f**k we all have bad days. by the type of gear he uses, well thats up to the individual and that does not make him a bad angler. like sless said its jealousy and i will add imature. some people have got nowt better else to do. ****em
cheers

Bri H, you have asked sless to name, names! well let me do it for him.
It was me who was allegedly slagging the Cleadon club.
I say allegedly because this is what was said:
Someone had asked were there any fish around my reply was that the cleadon club were out last night and out of 40 rods the usual 12 or 13 weighed in as a i have said many times before. When i get the results from sless i cant help noticing it is the same names appearing week after week. Now i personally dont think that is slagging, it is much more like stating facts.
Now what the carrier failed to tell sless was in the same conversation we were also discussing or debating (call it what you want) Why the cleadon club were so successful. Now that is definately not slagging off.

I sometimes think are there too many clubs? Who knows. At the end of the day it\'s people going out fishing. Some will want to be competitive and win some cash, some will want to learn and others will want the company.

As long as people are happy being in the minority in the club and it\'s run well the club will work. Those that aren\'t happy with the club will leave and go elsewhere or start another. Look at how many Opens there are now.

I\'m in New Hartley SAC and I don\'t claim to be a top notch angler but enjoy my sport. We\'ve had some cracking anglers in the club over the years and some have had their differences but it wouldn\'t stop me speaking with any of them. Although we\'re now a relatively small and casual club I think most people who\'ve been to our Open will agree you don\'t get many better in our area for value and good crack.

Incidentally this season it is Sunday 5th March 2006 for your diary.

I started fishing a club (Alnwick Sea Anglers) about 4years ago....I remember me first season I caught 2 fish total, was using rag and mackerel all the time with a crap rod and reel. Over the years I have personally improved my knowledge of the area, what places fish at what times, what bait to use at different venues and I would not have improved if I had not joined. This is because you pick up tips and knowledge from the experienced anglers and although I\'m not winning or catching fish every week I finished in a respectable position in our league last year and over time expect that to improve as I learn more.
Last week the lad that usually wins everything in our club blanked, and one of the younger less experienced members took heaviest fish. Truth is if you don\'t want to join a club then that\'s fine but you only have a chance of winning if you take part. Even the bets anglers have off nights

Used to fish with the Buccaneers but shifts knacked that up,so it\'s back to pleasure angling for me.some great advice was taken aboard by me whilst in the said club, also some of it taken with apinch of salt.
Whilst out fishing I always used to hear that everybody elses club was better than the club I\'d joined,I just thought that was par for the course, some lads love this banter/some do\'nt. I just like me fishing..cheers

Have never been i a fishing club but am the co founder of a bike club that is coming up to 11 years old.
Probaly the same in any club, you get the same faces who put the effort in,get their faces known as they are working for the club and now and then this can attract resentment. :(
I always remind people who moan that we are all there for the same thing,to enjoy our sport, learn and have a bit of crack.
Suck it up and move on.

dunno how clubs work in the north east but in cumbria we usually fish year round and the season runs jan to jan,i work shifts meself so i dont see how it can stop you fishing in a club, you just wont win the club championship thats all,i just fish when i can.
if youre getting 40 to a match your club must be doing something right, half the time its the more experienced anglers that stir the most **** anyways as our clubs found out recently.
