what can you reel up

I once got kicked out on new years eve (1991) and took my son fishing coz we were \"in the way\". I had some new kit and we went doon the river to practice

I only had only one worm but it caught some eels and a 8 pound cod but I had to climb down and get it (to impress my son) or it would hav blown it away witgh a sawn off. Who caught a fish on new year day

I have also had fish of 4 lb that I could not wind up. Not that they had no sense of humour mind lol. The only rod that I could lift a bigger fish would be the DC8. Weak my @rse Sless lol I thought it was Popeye when I saw you with that Ling on the boat lol.

Jim.

Spooky or what?

hi all well just a little bit of info here
the cliffs in yorkshire are sometimes fished as high as 360 ft above the water and most anglers will reel up fish to about 6/7lb but anything bigger will be hauled up using a pole with a pulley on the end and whilst you haul up the fish your mate reels in your slack line other that that you can use a scarbourgh reel or like myself i use an alvey side cast so it can be casted easy and when i have a fish on i just winch them up

i know the poles you are talking about
i saw paul medd at north row ends pull a fish up
he shouted to his mate get the pole
he hauled the fish up over the end of the pole and i laughed when it come up
it was about 3 lb

he he
the poles used to be made out of 8\' aluminium rod butts and have a spigot placed into them so that they would join together and a t bar at the end to sit on

happy times

aye sless i remember it well 3 pound being a bit generous
any man that can reel up a 7 pounder up a 360 ft cliff
must have a whinch attached to his rod ;)

But seriously, I\'ve winched a 5lb cod up just to the right of the Black Path no probs, ABU 9000 (40lb line) and a Conoflex COD6, no probs.
