world record attempt

ok everyone,

i have this mad idea for everyone to get a world record and raise the profile of casting and fishing within the media!

a worldwide casting comp held on the same day everywhere around the world with all the distances being added together to try and cast the entire distance around the globe which is 40,008km or 24,859.82 miles!

doesn\'t matter whether its 30m or 300m all the casts will count and each competitor can have as many casts as they want on that day to raise the total distance.

fishermen, wives, kids, casters, everyone will be welcome in the record bid as we need every last metre to be able to do it.

i suggest a small entry fee for each competitor with the proceeds going to a charity in each country i.e. in the UK something like £1.00 per caster

very early stages, just finding out whether we can get enough interest to make it work?

our main venue would probably be redcar, kirkleatham showground, but any fishing club could run a tournament anywhere its safe to do so and send in the results. the more venues the more casts we can total

if we can get 1 million anglers worldwide to throw just 50m each we have it in the bag easily

Great idea Peter and it will raise the profile of fishing and casting in a positive light, count me in, p.s are you the same Peter i\'m thinking of that used to cast in comps down the Hartlepool neck of the woods many moons ago, flat top haircut, slim bulild (it was 20 years ago lol) and green top spec century rod that when i cast with, nearly dislocated my shoulder lol, i mean ouch. Cheers mate If i,m correct you\'re from the Newbiggin neck of the woods.

Hi Peter thought it was you any of these names ring a bell Ronnie \'crack off\' Williams, Sid \'Hit the ground again\' bircher and Tommy \'mind your heads twirler\' Harland\' tee hee, ah the good memories. Me i\'m John \'official cleveland county casting champion Wilson\' oh and i\'ve got the crappy sea anglert badge to prove it lol. Casting for me was just a passing phase /curiosity that i had to exercise. But you credit to you went on to U.K.S.F status well done Peter, as i recall you had some serious surgery just after this period and i\'m relieved you came through it all okay thank god. It\'s good to hear from you through the pages of N.E.S.A mate nice one. Do you remeber Lou Marsden and Malcolm, \'the Shields Bear\' Barrows shit he was some size must of been 24 clem of muscle hey. But shit he certainly could hit a lead. Anyway Peter hope this has jogged your memory and all the best mate cause you are the best.

brenda road isn\'t there anymore is it? all factorys now so i\'m told, remember the ditches across the middle of the court

i saw sid about five years ago and ronnie, tommy used to come to our comps at redcar but i haven\'t seen him since they stopped, spoke to malcolm a couple of years ago, his knees are shot now so no more casting for him

a heart bypass at 22 wasn\'t the best thing for my casting but i haven\'t done too badly since
