:casstet: Called in at spot just West of Copthorne on way from work Sun 14:00 , 5 blokes catching loads of undersize codling & killing them then putting them on show in a line on footway (T*****S) a notice should be put up banning the killing of undersized fish I WOULD request one but I don,t know who to approach perhaps Alan could mention it in column in the Sunday Sun it might at least deter the guilty parties

Might be worth getting intouch with nigel mel(doc)about it its annoying seeing things like this happenning and knowing theres not a great deal we can do about it

Mel, will see what i can do, but idiots like this will just think it is clever getting a mention in the papers. Brain dead. Thing to do would be to conatct DEFRA or the Sea Hisheries commison staright away and report them.

seen it happen before around there. Used to work on the business park and whilst on a dinner time wander came across a couple of blokes fishing at the BA carpark. Same again, about half dozen well undersize codling proudly on diisplay. What bugged me aswell was the fact they thought they were so clever in having their catch on display to the passing public, just had to stop and have a chat. Mentioned to them about minimum sizes - no idea, did they think the fish they had were legal size - no idea. Asked why they killed fish that size - had to buy the bait so they had to take something home for the plate. Were they aware they could be fined/gear seized for landing undersize fish - panic bells started to ring. Did they know if bailiffs patrolled the area - total panic, gear packed up in record time. As a parting shot I suggested that if they wanted something for the plate then maybe they should just come down and cast a few leads without any bait and then call in at the fish shop on the way home. Parting shot from them to me was f-off you c--t. Couple of total nob heads.

WA?KERS , WHY DO THEY DO IT ,to prove they can catch fish or somthing , when there grand kids get older and go fishing and WONDER why theres hardly any cod around ????????

Its the same craic at Blyth harbour, normally sit there all day full of fizzy apple juice, should be blobbed ower the heed with a cosh and fed to the crabs

Tis good news.

I was talking to doc earlier this month on another forum and he was saying the humber had been full of tiny codling upto christmas then they dissapeared off the face of the planet. Lets hope they swam up north for a break but will be swimming back down here when they are bigger.

Unfortunately day anglers and the likes dont seem to know size limits. Perhaps a laminated notice at venues like piers etc would do the trick.

People don\'t tend to notice notices....Boulmer on Saturday there were 15 people digging outside of the boundaries with some even digging around the boat moorings. Either that or they\'re illiterate!
Flocks of birds were being harassed by another diggers dog!
