Graham,
Rod is off to Ferrydean....next weekend I think. Has had a week there for the last 3 or 4 years. He goes with my other brother (gas) so if you can contact them I'll sure they'll help. Let me know during the week and I'll give you Rod's number as he's not on very often.
I've fished Elephant Rock and Deill's thingy but only in the summer. As Steve says Gogs is the man, although I haven't heard from him for a while.

We stayed in digs in the middle of town. Wow - there's some nightlife up there and the women.........................

I think they were women

Aye, avoid dodgy birds in the nightclub who make you miss the match the next day. lol

But fun all the same.

Will post report on weeks fishing when we get back from Ferryden. Best advice - 'don't drink with the locals' - I speak from experience!

Sless,i am up the weekend before so will let you know the crack nearer the time.If you need a hand with marks etc just drop me a pm.
Gav.

Sless, I was up there last tuesday, set of 4 o clock in the morning got fishing for 11 o clock packed in at 7, ended up with 6 cod all at 2 lb, on crab and mussell, my mate ended up wth 2 cod again at 2lb and an 11,8ozlb pollock, taken on rag, we set of and i got home at 1am, it was a long day, but it was enjoyable. by the way what digs are you staying at.

It is not at all unusual to get pollock at Arbroath,in the last 2 years at least 2 opens have been won with 25lb+ bags of pollock from Ethie. There all a decent size up there too.

Try this

Try this

I can vouch for Morgan not making the comp the next day.....think he tried a drinking comp with one of the local down and outs instead!!!.
Try auchmithie harbour which is a couple of miles north of Arbroath. When you get there you will see the old harbour which is about the size of craster. Go to the right and you will see a large rock sticking up. Get on that and cast directly infront about 60 yds. Its kelpy but got good fish there. Big baits and strong simple snoods/hooks.
You could also try Ousen mains (near the lighthouse) if there is sea on as that was quite productive as well. Watch the swells though!!.

Stevie, your right about them swells, 3 years ago i was fishing at the blow hole at usan when i was hit by a swell knocked me of my feet and down a 5ft ledge, this was on my first cast, my chesties had to be binned my rod had to be sent away for repair, my brand new jacket had to be sent away for repair and i had to go to hospital for stitches in my hand, ended up in montrose getting drunk on vodka redbulls. it cost me around £200 to cast out for 10 minutes and someone else to reel in for me. (be carefull).
