was thinkin of going to dunstanburgh castle this weekend nt sure of the closest place to park tho i no how to get 2 colour nose point but thats as far.was told u have 2 walk from there is that rite,Also was wonderin wots the best way 2 fish up there distance,bait.etc........THANKS any help wud b great

two placess to park, 1st the car park just before you get into craster i think its £1.50 all day so get there early. the rest of the village i hard to find parking spaces and speaking to some of the residents at times it can be chaos during the summer.
2nd place is free and its dunstan steads, head up towards embleton from craster and you should see a turn right just before the brow of the hill drive down there and i think you can park up and walk south allong the side of the golf course.
both canny walks if its sunny.
baits: try everything and see what the fish fancy, spin, float could all work as its a deep water mark.
i dont bother much during the summer months as there are two many people fishing there for the macky and it gets overcrowded

on flat sea try the rocks between craster and dunstanborough big crab and mussel baits , rotten bottom gear, heavy line 40lb and you have a good chance of some nice red kelpy cod. heavy gear loss but so is the castle.
hope this helps

cheers
mark:)

What about Embleton Beach - how well does that fish? It always looks like it could be good (obviously when the crowds aren't there)

I always park near the gates leading along to the castle in Craster, it can be busy but i've always managed to get parked.

One thing to rememder when fishing at the castle; as soon as you hit the water just giv it a few seconds and wind back in quite quick. If you let the lure sink you will almost always get snagged. Try getting down as close as possible to the water and look for the rocks about 10ft from where you are standing heading north. There are normally pollack and coalies there.

embleton beach is a good place for flatties, not that i have fished it yet:)

davey g,
the best time to fish up that way off the rocks is the flatter the sea the better fishing into the kelp;)
