What's anyones thoughts on crab traps - tyres etc? I used to have a few down a while back. I see that there are literally hundreds down on the fish quay beach but that a select few people seem to have monopolised them - even though they have probably only gathered and dug in a few of those tyres themselves. My own thoughts are that tyres belong to no-one, and that once a sea has ripepd them out its up to whoever gets to them first to dig them back in - and in doing so - 'stake' ownership. I mean, just because someone has started 'doing' some traps which appear to have been abandoned does not in any way make those traps - much less the crab - his to own by right. My thoughts? Basically, I'll always do the traps down on thw quay for these reasons - irrespective of who claims ownership for him and his favourite friends. Those tyres only prevent crab reaching the sanctuary of the rocks and weed anyway. So for that reason, we all need to accept reality - traps should be universal unless you can prove you've maintained them year after year - and even then, the argument still remains that you're blocking 'free crab' meeting the rocks anyway - so do em' anyway!
