The Boathouse Tonight

Went out for a few hours tonight (sunday) 5.30pm till 9.30pm caught 2 codling 1st one was 2 and a half pound the other was about 3lb fishing the boathouse at whitley. bait was crab and muscle,runnydown and razorfish there is a nice sea building along whitley so should be better as the week goes on will be back out again on wednesday club match so hope there are plenty fish about

The weed was on the beach high water mark but none in water alan. Red rock its always been called the boathouse ive never heard it called anything else at least you knew where i was on about

Had a walk along Whitley Beach on saturday and like Daz says all the weed is at the h/w mark (LOOAADS of the stuff)

Nice one on the fish ...I've always known it as the Boat House (although on mark maps it does list it as the Boat Station)

Do you fish that mark at high or low water or can you fish it any time never fish up that way before would like to one day.

Never fished north of the tyne apart from eyemouth i will be stuck for a fishing spot for the north v south comp can i pick your brian on that one. i know your not going to tell me the best spots lol.

its a high water shot with a good sea running, south east is best as the weed bank of shore breaks the sea up,loose weed can be a real problem at times, some big fish have been caught there over the years. most people fish to the right of the boat compound on the beach as you walk down the path from parking at the pitch and putt hut

Red rock's spot on but interestingly uses the phrase "boat compound" which is by the steps which I believe is the reason for the Boat Station, rather than the Boathouse. Not being arsey or clever, just interested in namey type things. There is a high tide shot off the prom, a little further north. Look out for the iron steps onto the rocks and it's a cast of 80 yards into a small hole. I bet I've picked up a dozen codling over the years when scratching worm first thing in the morning that have been lost the night before. The weir is a major hassle though.
