Hello Guys,

Just out of interest I read in tonight's Evening Chronicle about a new tackle manufacturer based here in the North East. I can't comment personaly on any of the companys products as I have not seen or used them but the website is available here SONIK SPORTS

Regards Ian.

im sure they are ex employees from hardy/greys( IM/TA )that have started the company off
so it looks like there will be a lot of forein imported rods coming to the north east

It's Tony Andersons new venture.

I think you'll find its Ian Mcormack's new venture and Tony is working with him unless of course they have formed a partnership.

I suspect most of the stuff coming from Sonik will be along the lines of Grey's tackle.

Ian will more than probably be using the contacts in China he made while working for Grey's.

theres no way I would ever buy a rod again with a Greys background after the treatment I received with a faulty fly rod I bought from them.
£300 and the cork just disintegrated after 6 months, they didnt want to know.

Paul, not wishing to get into an arguement over this but you would have to say what you have stated wether true or not as i would assume Sonik are going to advertise heavily in the magazine you work for.

give it a rest for gawds sake, its half term and the playground is closed for the next week

I don't have enough experience of a suitable range of kit to make an informed judgement on anything really, I do however know what I like and do listen to advice on forums.

Let's wait & see them tested & reviewed properly before making judgement. Whether or not theres a "North-East" rock rod in the range will probably swing it though, as well as warranties & after sales support (spares etc). If they're being built specifically for the UK market surely that's a good start. Who'd have though the RT axellerator would be a good rod purely by the name. "The proof of the pudding is in the eating" as some fat bloke said !.

greys were excellent rods till they went to china ,hope any new tackle company doesnt make the same mistake .tony said in sea angler that the chinese rods are quality but most people know the truth.
i have a mark one appollo and its great ,but would not buy a mark two,ive seen too many snap!
